From tim.morgan at owasp.org Mon Jan 18 18:00:06 2016 From: tim.morgan at owasp.org (Tim Morgan) Date: Mon, 18 Jan 2016 10:00:06 -0800 Subject: [Owasp_framework_security_project] Reviving the Project Message-ID: Hi Everyone, Not long ago a few of us had a discussion on the leaders email list about improving the APIs that developers use on a day-to-day basis with the idea that it would help novice developers avoid common vulnerabilities. You can read more on the thread I started here: http://lists.owasp.org/pipermail/owasp-leaders/2015-November/015507.html A few of us decided it makes sense to start a project, though fully realizing it could be a huge undertaking. I started poking around the OWASP site, working out how to get it started, when I stumbled across the older effort that Michael Coates initiated (the reason this email list exists). I realized that the goals we have in mind are very much in line with this project's, though the specific technologies may be slightly different. Since this frameworks project has been inactive for a while, I proposed to Michael that we try to revive it and figure out a way to make it sustainable, which he is supportive of. My next step is to get to work documenting a roadmap I think we could follow to make some early progress and attract more volunteers. I think if we start small and break up the work into small units, then it will be easier to get lots of people to lend a hand in certain areas where they are subject matter experts. I'm definitely interested to hear from anyone who joined the old initiative who would be interested in pitching in on this new effort. Thanks, tim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
