Hey OWASP Vancouver,

I am working on kicking off a public security & privacy event in
Vancouver.  Below are some details, please let me know if you are
interested in helping out, running a workshop, or attending, please visit

Just a heads up that I am working on something for Nov 30th, thought you
might be interested!


Vancouver Security & Privacy Awareness day is a one day event hosted in
Downtown Vancouver that allows the average consumer the opportunity to
learn about how they can protect themselves on-line and identify free
resources to help them learn about some of the challenges in living in a
connected world.

This conference will feature 5 distinct tracks, including:

·         Panels – Representatives of leading online businesses will
discuss and answer questions related to living and working on-line

·         Mobile– Experts on Mobile Platforms such as Android, iPhone and
Blackberry, as well as emerging platforms will discuss how to use
smartphones and apps safely

·         Social Media – Leaders in the social media space will talk about
the challenges and issues facing users of social media, covering the gamut
of online tracking, privacy, and how and what information users are sharing

·         Web– What happens when you visit a website?  What the heck is an
invalid certificate, and why is it bad?  Learn about these things and more

·         Parenting – New technology abounds, and every kid wants the cool
new things.  Learn what SnapChat is, how Apps work, and about topics such
as Cyber bullying
