Hey all,

  while Oracle's VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) *should*
work, VMWare (https://www.vmware.com/products/player/) will definitely
be a lot easier. I've had some issues with getting VirtualBox to
properly load up vmware images. The target will use host-only network
setup with DHCP, and the options differ slightly between VMWare and
VirtualBox, which is usually the source of most issues. Basically
we'll want to create an isolated virtual LAN that we can put on your
laptops, alongside a BackTrack 5 R3 (http://www.backtrack-linux.org/)
virtual machine for the testing tools (which I'll provide), and while
setup on both VMWare and VirtualBox in isolation is fairly easy,
moving a single image from one to the other invariably causes some
problems, so if you can get VMWare Player that's perfect. For Mac
users who don't want to fork out $50 for VMWare Fusion
(https://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/overview.html), VirtualBox
will probably suffice, but be prepared to sack at least 15 minutes
getting the images working :)

Cheers,
