Dear OWASP Community,
As you just heard, our long time Operations Director Kate Hartmann has
decided to move on from OWASP after 9 years.
When Kate first talked to me about it, I was surprised and of course,
disappointed. Kate has held us together in many ways that may not have
been obvious from the outside. A very common thing I've seen in staff
meetings has been the team asking Kate for background - from conference
details like registrations, to all the systems behind the scenes like
Salesforce to who knows and does what in the community.
So after an initial period of surprise, I went through a period of
trepidation about how everything would possibly get done. It is not an
exaggeration to say that few people (if any) know more about OWASP from a
Seeing Kate plan a transition with the team and commit to finishing the
work she started has brought a better sense of calm and a visible path that
I am confident will allow OWASP to stay on track even as she leaves. It
won't be totally seamless but she's helping us to make sure we succeed and
folks like Matt Tesauro, Kelly Santalucia and Dawn Aitken are stepping up
to carry the load.
On a personal level, I have appreciated Kate's hard work, commitment, broad
knowledge of the OWASP back end, wry sense of humor and amusing discomfort
in the spotlight.
I believe she has left her mark and will always be part of the OWASP fabric.
I hope you will join me in giving Kate our thanks and wishing her the best
in her next endeavor.
Thank you, Kate.
