The OWASP Dublin Chapter has a new board and a bunch of new volunteers and
one of the initiatives we're working on is to attract and retain women in
cybersecurity and make an impact locally.
We're about to kick off an outreach initiative with other security groups
locally (ISC2, ISACA, etc), 3rd level institutions, employer groups,
industry and government bodies. The aim is to make a practical difference
and reduce barriers at all levels, which would hopefully result in
attracting and retaining more women in cybersecurity. We're looking at a
number of activities including speaking with schools/colleges,
workshops/training, developing guide literature for companies to reduce
*We were wondering if there are others in OWASP working on similar
activities (e.g. Women in AppSec) and if so can we connect to share
experiences and collaborate together?*
The videos below are from an event we had two weeks ago with about 200+
people attending. We had two speakers (Jacky Fox & Jane Frankland) and a
panel of 6 (directors from Symantec, Deloitte, DocuSign, IBM, and Michelle
Simpson OWASP Belfast chapter lead) who tool Q&A.

The chapter had about 20 volunteers assisting and ran a Facebook live
event. The feedback from the event was very positive.
