To the OWASP Community

Yesterday I provided an update on our research about people who did not
receive voting instructions. In that email I outlined several reasons why
this occurred including some claims that they never received membership
renewal information before the election cycle. Outlined below is our
solution to identify anyone who 'might have been missed' and to ensure that
subset of people is given a 'grace period' to renew their membership and
participate in voting.

1. *The current voting period will remain open and it will be extended
until October 31*, 2014. We know that 1,956 names were on the list who
received voting instructions and 243 (12%) have already voted.
>> Note: if you have already voted, Thank You.
>> If you have not voted yet, please vote now using your voting
instructions.

2. *For the 'missed members': We will open a special 'grace period' *for
the people who did not renew their membership in the 90 days before the
Sept. 30, 2014 eligibility cutoff. Some may have done this by choice,
others claim they did not receive renewal information.
>> The list is 21 Honorary Members, ~400 Individual Members and ~200
Regional Members.

3. This batch of 621 names will be offered a chance to renew during a
special grace period of Oct. 20-24. They will be sent 2-3 emails
explaining the special renewal grace period with instructions and links to
the normal renewal pages.

4. *Anyone who renews during this grace period ending Oct. 24* will become
eligible to vote in the 2014 OWASP Board election. They will be sent the
same voting instructions as the original 1,956. It will include the notice
that voting is extended through the week of Oct. 27 - 31.

This solution respects the current voting procedure and all those who have
already voted. It also gives fair opportunity for those who might have
been missed by breakdown in communication or procedure. Finally, it aligns
with our OWASP values of openness and inclusion.

Again, I encourage everyone who already received voting instructions to
vote now. We look forward to exceptional participation during this voting
cycle.
