Over the past few months, cybersecurity breaches like Heartbleed
<http://www.dhs.gov/blog/2014/04/11/reaction-%E2%80%9Cheartbleed%E2%80%9D-working-together-mitigate-cybersecurity-vulnerabilities-0?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DhsBlogFeed+%28DHS+Blog+Feed%29>
have dominated the news. Many of these attacks can be tracked to flaws,
weaknesses, and vulnerabilities in software packages that weren’t properly
tested before being released to commercial markets. The Department of
Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Cyber Security
Division (CSD) has developed a resource that will address these issues,
creating a healthier and safer cyber environment for all computer users.

On Wednesday, July 30, join S&T CSD’s Twitter Chat to learn about the Software
Assurance Marketplace (SWAMP) <http://www.dhs.gov/csd-swamp>—an online,
open-source resource that allows developers, users, and information
security officers to find and track flaws and vulnerabilities in software
packages before their release. SWAMP provides users access to a wide range
of software packages, test cases, and community projects. By leveraging
these resources, SWAMP users can identify gaps in their software and ensure
security testing is a part of their software development process from the
beginning.

We invite you to join S&T Cyber Security Division Program Manager Kevin
Greene from *12 to 1 p.m. ET on July 30* to discuss SWAMP. Researchers from
the Morgridge Institute for Research (@SWAMPTEAM
<https://twitter.com/SWAMPTEAM>) and software tool developer Secure
Decisions (@CodeDx <https://twitter.com/CodeDx>) will also be online for
the chat.

We encourage you to join the two-way discussion and share your thoughts.
Please submit your questions and comments to @DHSSciTech
<http://www.twitter.com/dhsscitech> before, during, or after the chat and
be sure to use the *#STTechTalk* hashtag.

Feel free to share invite with colleagues!
