Hi folks,

I just wanted to give you some advanced warning of the forthcoming ZAP
release.

OK, so pre announcing it may be a bit unusual, but I think (hope;) this is
going to be a very significant release for both the ZAP team and OWASP as a
whole.
Based on the number of homepage hits ZAP is one of the most popular OWASP
projects right now, and I think it has the potential to reach many more
developers than we've previously been able to engage with.

There are so many changes that we will be calling the new release 2.0.0.
The headline changes:

   - Integrated add-ons marketplace
   - New 'traditional' Spider
   - New Ajax Spider
   - WebSockets support
   - Quick start option
   - User defined contexts
   - Different modes

For a slightly longer list see the 'Roadmap' tab on the ZAP homepage:
https://www.owasp.org/index.php/ZAP
For a full list of all the changes see the committed changes:
http://code.google.com/p/zaproxy/issues/list?can=2&q=status=Committed

Why pre announce this release?
Well, obviously I'd like to give this release as much publicity as possible
:)
But it would also be great if any of you could download the latest weekly
release (from http://code.google.com/p/zaproxy/downloads/list ) have a play
with it and let me know if you hit any significant problems.

When will it be released?
The plan is to release it in the last week of January (ie next week),
although obviously if any significant issues are found then it may get
delayed.

Last, but not least, we have a brand new flyer for ZAP v2:

Many thanks to Samantha for all her hard work getting this produced.

Oh, and I'll be presenting at
FOSDEM<https://fosdem.org/2013/schedule/event/security_owasp/>on Feb
2nd and will be on the OWASP stand most of the rest of the time, so
if you're there pop over and say hi.

Cheers,

Simon
