Dear All

I'm eventually finding some time to get the Cambridge Chapter off the
ground so to speak I met Steven van der Baan recently who has moved
to Cambridge who has kindly volunteered to help set up the Cambridge

I was thinking of organising about 3 chapter meetings between now and
July time (early December, March and June/July time possibly). As the
university is affiliated to OWASP and that linkage provides positive
benefits to our students finding rooms to host events is not a

I've got rooms booked for our first meeting on the 5th December, just
awaiting confirmation of some speakers before I advertise more widely

Some areas that I could use some advice or help are

•	Potential Themes - Given the main OWASP thrust on Builders, Breakers
and Defenders , I was thinking of an evening devoted to each one

•	Recommendations for speakers for each theme and how we could tap
funding opportunities like the OWASP Speakers Project Fund (or other
options if they exist) to cover some speakers expenses if they had to
fly in.

•	Any ideas on obtaining sponsorship for things like refreshments (I
have an offer from my boss for some limited fnding for at least one

•	Either July or early/mid Septemeber I'm considering trying to put
together a full day cybercrime themed conference activity, I've a
family friend who is a senior officer in the Met's Ecrime Unit who has
offered to speak and potentially I have some EU funding which could go
towards the event. This could be an AppSec Research or a Training Day
event. Any advice greatly received.

Presumably its a good idea to advertise potential chapter events on
the OWASP wiki somewhere, (I seem to think Colin helped me last year
with one of our kick off events)

Many thanks for your help

All the best
