The Ireland Limerick OWASP Day 2012 took place last Friday, please find
below some details.
As the first OWASP Day (actually half-day) organised in South-West Ireland,
we positioned it as a free InfoSec event. Thus, we had a healthy local and
national participation, including two international presenters - Jerry Hoff
(WhiteHat Security) and Mark Goodwin (Mozilla).
Jerry delivered an excellent talk on the state of building security into
frameworks, while Mark presented on some cool Mozilla browser security
features and tools. We also had two presentations done by local chapter
representatives, Reiner Dojen (University of Limerick) and myself - I can
only hope we did a good job :) Reiner presented a new type of jamming
attacks for mobile communication, while I delivered a secure coding
training session on SQL Injection.
Details are available here (presentations will be available for download
So far the feedback we received rated the event somewhere between very good
and excellent (with one person rating it as fair).
