[Owasp-leaders] The Gap Between OWASP and Developers

Are the “challenges” to getting large enterprises to become members more of a traditional sales challenge that a chapter leader alone cannot solve? For example, The Hartford belongs to several organizations similar to OWASP and will openly contribute to them. The key thing is that all of the models whether it is ACORD, SIM, etc all have dedicated sales people that can have multiple conversations with the enterprise over a very long time period. The sales process also occurs during core business hours which becomes challenging for a chapter leader who has a day job. 


As far as increasing OWASP participation, I never really had the challenge of reaching people in large organizations in the area, but was challenged with the smaller ones. One general observation of the marketplace at large is that OWASP offers a little bit more value to those doing Java while smaller shops will trend more towards Microsoft. Should we be more balanced in this regard?


Should their be a plan for attracting the likes of Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, etc as they are becoming a larger portion of the development community?
