I assume someone amongst us has at least heard of Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute's 'SPIN' (Software Process Improvement Network) chapters...but I hadn't until one of my chapter members mentioned it (below). So has anyone in OWASP reached out to any SPIN chapter in any way? If so what has been done and was it successful? Are SPIN chapters pretty active? Can we 'recruit' OWASP contributors?
I spoke to the San Antonio SPIN group a couple times a LONG time about integrating security into the development cycle. The San Antonio group was very CMMI-centric with lots of government contractors. The talks were well-received. I don't think that the San Antonio SPIN group is terribly active anymore, but other chapters might be. I'll poke around a bit and see if they're still meeting.
