All -

So some of you have heard me talking about being in contact with Jay
Zimmerman on integrating an Application Security Track into UberConf. For
those of you not familiar with what Jay has done or what UberConf and No
Fluff Just Stuff are you can read more about it from the links provided at
the end of this message.

I just spoke with Jay and we would like to put a call out for Security
Professionals to take part in an Application Security Track at UberConf.
Initial thinking is that, since this is a 3-day conference with 90 minute
sessions and 1/2 day to full day workshops what would be really great is
to get a handful of presenters to do a series of talks on the first day,
then follow those up with some in-depth, comprehensive, working sessions on
writing secure code with full time developers. This would be laptops out,
IDE¹s loaded, codebase in front of you, real-time fix it kind of stuff. This
is the stuff that we are missing right now (IMHO)

I have volunteered to work with Jay and handle putting out a call to the
OWASP Community to come up with a selection of the kind of best-of-breed for
this first run at this track and would like to get a couple more OWASP
leaders involved in this process. Now, we would really like to get this call
out to the community as soon as possible since Jay would like to have the
schedule finalized by early March.

So here is what I am looking for 3-4 additional OWASP Leaders to work with
me and act as liaisons between OWASP and UberConf as a kind of trial run of
putting a AppSec track into a fully-fledged development conference (and a
large one that is best-of-breed at that) - Note that this doesn¹t preclude
these people from submitting their own presentations. I would like to use
Google Moderator as the means of voting in the top ideas for this track to
be included in a package for final approval by Jay and his staff.

If you are up to this and can dedicate a few extra hours over the next month
or so to making this happen, please get in touch with me and we will get the
final details together. This is a huge huge opportunity for OWASP to really
make a difference where it counts and I am super excited to see this coming
to fruition.

Please contact me off-list if you are interested in working on this.
