Hello Mike,

I thank your response and suggest we discuss your perspective in the leaders’ mailing list.

Hi Paulo. All of the proposals seem to violate what have become OWASP’s de factor brand identity (logo, or corporate identity) guidelines of the wasp inside a circle. Each of the logos are unrecognizable to me without the word “OWASP” on them, the wasp is not unique enough to OWASP to imply OWASP. I instantly associate wasp in a circle (either in black and white, or fancier, doesn’t matter) with OWASP. For example, proposal 2 implies an organization that begins with the letter “C” or “G” to my eye. For more information on the topic, FWIW, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_identity

Leaders, Committees,

As you already know we are currently running a Training pilot experience under a “Chapters driven model with local Chapter organization in which the courses are free for OWASP members, the contents are OWASP projects focused and the costs are supported by a mix of funding i.e. local chapter budget, external sponsorship, trainers sponsorship i.e. trip and/or accommodation paid by themselves and local chapter members’ sponsorship i.e. taking trainers in as guests“.

In this context, we have been offered a detailed Training logo proposal (Generator’s courtesy - http://www.generator.pt/) with 5 five different options and I ask if you would like to vote so as to we can chose the initiative’s ultimate image.

Many thanks, regards,

This is the announcement for the forthcoming full-day OWASP training on OWASP projects and resources on May 28, 2010. Signup is open (see links at the bottom of the email). Spaces are limited (right now we only have 23 spaces available), so first come first served.

 * Apart from OWASP's Top 10, most OWASP Projects<http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project> are not widely used and understood. In most cases this is not due to lack of quality and usefulness of those Document & Tool projects, but due to a lack of understanding of where they fit in an Enterprise's security ecosystem or in the Web Application Development Life-cycle.

 * This course aims to change that by providing a selection of mature and enterprise ready projects together with practical examples of how to use them.

 * If you are interested in participating in the hands on portion of the course, please bring a laptop.
 * All OWASP Training Material can be downloaded from here<http://code.google.com/p/owasp-training/downloads/list>.

Please note that this training is free, but is currently open to only OWASP Members. However, if you've been looking for a good reason to join as an OWASP Member its only USD$50 to join for a year (approximately £33 at current exchange rates).

To sign up for the courses, please follow the registration links from here - http://www.owasp.org/index.php/London/Training/OWASP_projects_and_resources_you_can_use_TODAY
