Brandi, I empathize with your frustration, having been on both sides of the
Folks, I propose that the OWASP Jobs page be updated as follows:
Proposed change #1:
Replace the text of bullet "All job postings MUST include the actual company
name and direct contact information of employeer" with "All job postings
MUST include the actual company name and directions how to contact the
employeer". This will allow employers to provide URLs of their online job
web sites, which are typically required to submit an application for
Proposed change #2:
Add a new bullet under "Submission template example" that reads "Software
assurance engineer job description examples". Then, link "examples" to
https://www.owasp.org/index.php/How_to_write_verifier_job_requisitions It is
a new article that I wrote a moment ago for this purpose to address concerns
Proposed change #3:
Replace "OWASP Member Company Jobs Page1" placeholder pages' text with two
new sections something like "New Job Listings" and "Member Company Job
Listings". Under the first section, I'd simply say if there are no new ones:
"Please see member company job listings below". Then, under the second
section, list corporate members' job sites, e.g.
I'll add additional related articles such as how to adjust one's resume to
market verification skills as I'm able.

Subject: [Owasp-leaders] Can we be more helpful to job seekers?
Today I was contacted by a recruiter who asked me if "may know someone that
would be interested in a Application Security consulting position in NY.
Someone who has experience with Ounce Labs for source code review, PCI
compliance, OWASP and risk management. Need is immediate. I would appreciate
any referrals you can think of. Thank you in advance."
My immediate reaction was to direct this person to the OWASP job board. The
"rules" for the job board are below. These rules are not conducive to
getting jobs posted on the board by recruiters. Why do we need a direct
contact at the company???
And it turns out this job board is not conducive to ANYONE because there are
ZERO jobs posted on the board. Someone posted "
Check back soon.... or try calling some of the OWASP Corporate Members
understand the importance of application security to business"
? Which really doesn't make a lot of sense.
The members of our audience are very highly skilled professionals who don't
fit the typical System Admin position for Company X. We need to recognize
this and make it as easy as possible for people to advertise their jobs with
us. In this economy we owe it to our members to light up and let people
post. If our job board rocked people would want to post on it because people
were looking at it.
Who has the authority to change up this rule set?
OWASP Application Security Job Board
Our mission is to make application security "visible," so that people and
organizations can make informed decisions about application security risks.
The global economy has greatly impacted our community worldwide. If your
company is seeking an application security staff member or your are seeking
employment utilize the OWASP Job Board FREE to individuals and as a
value-add benefit for corporate members
* The Job Board may be used ONLY to advertise W-2 positions and
requests for proposals (RFPs) for application security work.
* All job postings MUST include the actual company name and direct
contact information of employeer
* Submission template example
* Job postings will be updated and removed monthly.
* To submit a job, email the listing to Kate Hartmann
