I came across a paper by Orr Dunkelman, Nathan Keller, and Adi Shamir on 'Sandwich Attack' which describes shattering GSM 3G crypto implementation of A5/3 aka KASUMI in less than two hours on a normal PC, some of you might recognize Adi Shamir from his contribution to RSA encryption and FMS method used for cracking WEP.

Keeping in mind the fact that A5/1 took more than a couple of months for generation of rainbow tables KASUMI turned out to be a bummer.
