If you change the terms, responsibilities the business should alert the applicants to that fact IMHO and is standard HR practice. Also it is important to clearly call out the 90 day probationary period.
Look forward to hearing about the candidates at the next board meeting.

I had a revised PD in Google Docs that folks had been commenting on, and then the old just position got released without proper announcements. This was beyond frustrating as I don't think we achieved what we needed to in the old PD doc, nor had we agreed to publish the job nor had it properly aired on Linked In.

I think we really need to re-think how we do things, because the PD in recruiter box is a laundry list of random things. Additionally, we need to re-advertise the role on Linked In properly in the OWASP group.

Hi Martin
Do you expect us to change this description so it fits with some o the things you have  pointed out?
Maybe we should put this description on a google doc and allow certain comments so it can fit to the responsibilities that we expect, including clarifying conflict of interest, deadline for sending a CV etc
Cheers

Hi Johanna, et all,

First of all, I was surprised by the way I heard about the position, being via a Facebook post. But I could have missed announcements before.
To be honest, I am surprised by the style of the job description as I am used to find some prerequisites on knowledge and experience and clear expectations and responsibilities.
The job description as on the link is vague. 4 different roles with each a number of responsibilities.
Last not least, as the the application form asks if the applicant is an OWASP member, it would be helpful to mention if being an OWASP leader is a pre or not. If there is an conflict of interest if the applicant is a chapter or project leader.

The previous ED responsibility where, as I understood, responsible for
the day-to-day operation of the organization and managing
staff.
The job description as posted currently, and as I understand it, goes further and includes more roles and responsibilities.

Cheers,
-martin

MartinI must say that I do not quite agree neither with this description
Some of the things described do not fit in mi opinion with the tasks of a ED
What do you expect now to happen after you have made this remarks?
Cheers

Dear Board of directors, board-list followers,

Via an Facebook post by Tom Brennan, one of the current board members, I came to attention of the OWASP job posting: https://owasp.recruiterbox.com/jobs/fk062sn/

The description of the position is quite unusual for European standards, and as I understood for US standards too. Also, the position is quite extended compared to the position previously fulfilled by Paul Ritchie.
Last not least, there is not deadline mentioned for applying to this position.

In my understanding, as the position was previously, the major role of the ED was as follow:
 [Quoted from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_director]
The role of the executive director is to design, develop and implement
strategic plans for the organization in a cost-effective and
time-efficient manner. The executive director is also responsible for
the day-to-day operation of the organization, which includes managing
committees and staff as well as developing business plans in
collaboration with the board.
The executive director is accountable to the chairman of the board of
directors and reports to the board on a regular basis – quarterly,
semiannually, or annually. The board may offer suggestions and ideas
about how to improve the organization, but the executive director
decides whether or not, and how, to implement these ideas.

Whereby the roles as described of the OWASP job posting is extending this with more leadership and overall strategic responsibilities.

Can you elaborate on how and why the responsibilities of the ED have been extended in this manor? Also, there is no comment if the future ED may be an OWASP leader or if this would be seen as conflict of interest.
With kind regards,-martin________________________________
