Well at least the video was multicultural. Around 1:59 they started saying "Fuck Texas" in 5 different languages!
Josh, this is totally inappropriate via an official OWASP marketing channel, I agree.
As someone who was born in and grew up in New York, I apologize. It's not Tom's fault. Most folks from New York are assholes like Tom and myself. It's part of the culture. It's especially a problem in NYC. At least I grew up in Albany so I'm only 1/2 an asshole. Tom is full on!
> Saw this go out yesterday over the @appsecusa Twitter feed:
> “@brennantom <https://hootsuite.com/dashboard#>: New York City Vs Texas
> #lascon <https://hootsuite.com/dashboard#>
> youtu.be/QRofSFMMbuM <http://t.co/xpVaS0Gy6g>” cc
> The link is basically a video of Lewis Black and New Yorkers saying "Fuck
> Texas" over and over. Completely inappropriate in general, but over an
> official OWASP channel such as the AppSecUSA Twitter account? The
> AppSecUSA team should be worried about figuring out ways to gain attendees
> and building the InfoSec community; not in trying to start a rivalry with
> "Texas". Way to blow your shot at attracting the majority of attendees
> from last years conference! Completely ridiculous.
