I also think late q1 or q2 would be better for the largest influx of revenue into OWASP

If the committee wants to adjust 2013 now is the time to discuss and debate it.... Before contracts are signed

I don't like the idea of mid November in NYC: unreliable weather and proximity to Thanksgiving. October has been problematic, with both Hacker Halted Miami and ISSA International conference occurring.

>> Regarding new conference dates: Your team has not updated the in OCMS (which generates the markup for the event listing wiki page) or submitted an updated proposal to the conference committee for consideration. This is the week before Thanksgiving as well as, more generally, in Q4, which limits time and availability for staff in preparing for AppSec Latam during quarter 4. When the committee asked for submissions, AppSec USA was to take place in Q3 (preferred), which your original proposal reflected.
>>
>> I understand that your team has experience and put on a successful event in 2008. Our organization and model for global appsecs (especially in the US) has changed since then. If you are looking to make this a global event and involve the staff, please consider that we are trying to create a consistent model and expectations on what is a "Global AppSec Event" and involve others in the discussion of significant changes in your event.
>>
>> Similar to the decision on whether to have training or not, the decision on change of dates is larger than the local planning team. Also, I think the change of dates should have a bit of discussion/input from others.
>>
>> Assuming there is a possibility to have training the week of the 18th at the venue (since this decision has not been made), I recommend that we discuss the change of dates on the planning calls this week (NYC Planning team call, and 2 conference committee calls) and ask for any feedback via the global conference committee list.
