Josh is the Austin Chapter lead/president and the Austin chapter has been
using (and has had success) with Ning for a while. He had asked me around
Thanksgiving if the Foundation could pay to upgrade the free Ning account it
had been using to a pay account.

My counter proposal to him was to setup a "global" Ning site for the use of
any OWASP chapter instead of just one for Austin. I had spoken to some
chapter leaders who expressed interest in some of the features offered by
Ning so a larger trial made sense. Also, the cost of the branded pay
version was only $500/year so it also didn't represent an expensive
experiment. Josh agree to run this experiment and basically be the OWASP
Ning site project leader.

He has now setup the branded Ning site and OWASP paid for it. He is asking
for the DNS change so the branding will extend past the OWASP logos he's
placed on the site. After that change is done, he's planning on working
with the chapters who had previously agreed to beta test the site.

The following is a request that has come in for a DNS entry. I would like
some feedback on if this should be setup since adding this to DNS tells the
public it is OWASP. I would rather have the decision come from the board or
a committee on moving forward with this.

Basically, I'd just like a CNAME record from my.owasp.org pointing to
myowasp.ning.com. That doable? Doesn't look like anything is using that
domain name yet.

Well, I can add additional domain names and aliases, but truthfully, I would
be making this up as I go along. I'd like to just check in with Larry to
make sure I would be doing this correctly since I don't see that there are
any other domains currently listed.

Hey Kate,

Could you point me toward whoever currently runs the DNS for the owasp.org
domain? Our new Ning group has the ability to have other domains than
ning.com and I was thinking it would be cool to do something like
<http://my.owasp.org/> http://my.owasp.org.

P.S. - You should create an account at <http://myowasp.ning.com/>
