Hi, Paulo.

Thanks for your prompt response. The training material is extensive and

What would be your advice on finding the trainer?

[pc] I would suggest you contact our leaders’ mailing list. If you are
already particularly interested in any of our project leaders, the contact
can be made directly. In this circumstance, you should be able to find the
email contact on the project’s page. Otherwise, please drop me a line.
However, it’s also possible to extend the call for training providers by
contacting a dozen of non-OWASP AppSec mailing lists. Please see the email
enclosed (AppSecDC 2010) to find out a few email addresses.

 What's their fee schedule?

[pc] To be honest, my experience with matter is very limited since the
Training Courses I’ve helped with were free and OWASP members only. I am
carbon copying both the Education Committee and the Board – let us see if
any of them can step in. Nevertheless, please see enclosed the Brazilian
call for Training Providers. The conditions they have set up seemed very
reasonable to me and I presuppose it has received OWASP Board’s agreement.

Must such training be free for OWASP members?

[pc] I would say yes but let’s hear the Membership Committee, being carbon

How do you verify membership?

[pc] You can check membership here
4MTkxQkE&gid=0> &gid=0. However, given this list is manually updated, it can
miss recent members. Thus, if you have any doubt, please drop me a line and
I verify directly in our system.

I am looking for a one day training in particular. Any recommendation?

[pc] I would recommend anything similar to what we did in London
you_can_use_TODAY as it worked perfectly well and the trainees’ feedback was
very encouraging.

Sorry for asking some many questions all at once.

[pc] I will be always available to assist you in any issue you think I can
be of any help. Thank you for putting all this together. Well done!

I can probably explain better on the phone. I am in New York. Please feel
free to call me at 516-582-4943, or give me your number and a convenient
time to call.

[pc] You can reach me at 00 44 879 43 42 240 but, to be honest, I believe we
can be more productive if we deal with this matter by email since my spoken
English is a bit rusty.

Thanks again for sharing this great resource with us. I would like to
contribute to the future of OWASP training, especially for the Chinese

[pc] Glad to hear you want to contribute the future OWASP Training. Thank
you and be welcomed!

Thank you.

Hello Helen,

Even if I am not totally sure about what kind of info you are looking for, I
am evidently available to assist you with the China Summit Training event.
For example, if you find the template/methodology we have used in our London
Training session useful, I can set up a similar one in the China Summit wiki

In addition, as for your question, all the training material has been
created mainly by the Global Education Committee using previous projects
materials. Also, a couple of presentations files were created by the
trainers. Everything we have created and used is located here

So, if you find these materials useful, feel obviously free to use them as
you find best. On the contrary, if you are interested in delivering training
based on other OWASP Projects, please let us know which ones you are
interested in and we will see if both Education Committee and Project
Leaders can engage in our efforts to create the needed materials.

Please drop me a line and let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks, best regards,

Hello, Dinis and Paulo,

I am Helen Gao, an organizer of the OWASP <http://goog_60105311> China
<http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_China_Summit_2010> Summit 2010. We
are very interested in using the existing training material for the
conference in October. I would really appreciate it if you could point me
to the material and as well as guidelines of using them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Mark,

You can find more details about the London event here
you_can_use_TODAY including links to all presentations, a series of videos
and a number of supporting documents (note that those pages are all based on
MediaWiki templates (i.e. easy to reuse))

Paulo Coimbra (CCed) was one of the key organizers of these events (he works
for OWASP ) and although he is currently on holiday, when he returns, he
will be able to help you with the set-up of similar event(s).

AYesterday at the conference call of the OWASP Global Education Committee
(CCed) it was agreed that this committee would be now taking a leading role
in the delivery of these type of OWASP Training courses (free for OWASP
members, funded by the Local Chapter, focused on presenting OWASP materials,
etc...), for example the Education Committee will soon start working on the
translation of the existing training materials into French (followed by
German and Portuguese (not sure which Asian language would be better for
your community Mark, but we should also support it (with your help))).

The next step is for you to set up a couple dates (two is better) so that we
can get the ball rolling.

If I may suggest, what about the 2nd week of July and the last week of

The reasons why is good to book the dates, is that it really helps to focus
the efforts, and it doesn't matter if in the end the actual delivery dates
are different :)

Let us know if you need additional details or help
