[Owasp-board] Change made on OWASP projects page

I'm trying to catch up on my OWASP e-mail.

I think Current Season of code project should go after Beta, not above Beta,
as many Beta projects are far more mature (Like ESAPI) than the Season of
Code Stuff.

Is "Season of Code Projects" for projects that are *currently* in a season
of code effort? And then after the SoC is over we move them to the
appropriate category depending on how far they got (alpha, beta, release)?
If that's the plan, then I'm for it.

I think we should change it to "Current Season of Code Projects"

Hi Guys, following the thread bellow and multiple conversations with Paulo,
I added the following line to each project type on
https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project (Paulo didn't want to
make this change :) )

We have started the process of defining detailed guidelines which indicate
what will be required from an OWASP Project in order for it to be classified
an OWASP Release quality project (see Project Assessment Criteria
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project_Assessment> ).
Please note that the projects below have NOT been evaluated under this
criteria and might be re-classified once that process is completed.

We (me and Paulo) also decided that the SoC projects should appear after the
Release Quality projects since they are the most active projects and the
ones that represent better what is going on at OWASP (which is what people
looking at the https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project page
are after). Note that most Alpha and Beta projects that are not
participating on SoC are most likely inactive and we will need to find new
project leaders for it:

This is the current order:

*
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project#Release_Quality_Proj
ects> 1 Release Quality Projects
*
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project#Season_of_Code_Proje
cts> 2 Season of Code Projects
*
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project#Beta_Status_Projects
> 3 Beta Status Projects
*
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project#Alpha_Status_Project
s> 4 Alpha Status Projects
*
<https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Project#Inactive_Projects> 5
Inactive Projects

What do you guys think?

Dinis,

I don't think SpoC projects belong above Beta quality projects because many
of them are brand new. Any of them that aren't are probably in the Beta list
so I don't think they need to be listed again above the Beta list.

If you agree, can you let Paulo know?

Thanks, Dave

I am not sure, Dave. I have initially put the Soc's projects under the Alpha
Quality level. Thereafter, I was told by Dinis to move them to their current
location. Dinis was arguing that, taking into account the general public
point of view, it could make sense, as the SoC's projects are within the
OWASP most active projects.

However, I understand your focus as well - from my perspective, allow me
please, your both approaches have advantages and disadvantages and, if you
want my opinion, I will need a bit more time to think about it. I will try
to do so next week. Otherwise, I will be waiting for precise instructions.

However, from my perspective this question about the SoC projects location
within the OWASP project page is also linked with the Assessment criteria.
Hence, in my opinion, we should begin to sort out this question by finding
out a proper frame to include in there the Season of Code projects. Does
this make any sense for you?

Can you move the summer of code projects below the Beta quality projects? In
fact, does it make sense to list them all on this page or do you think a
separate page for the SoC projects would be more appropriate, and then we
can provide a link to them from this page?

Thanks, Dave
