"The undersigned agree to serve on and execute the mission of the OWASP
YYYYY Committee for a term of at least one year, agree to uphold the OWASP
Principles during the execution of this effort, and follow the OWASP Code of
Ethics. I understand that this is a significant commitment that is expected
to require about 40 hours per month of effort."

This is fine. Didn't we talk about a level of participation at the summit?
I thought we asked for a day a week or 4 hours a week or something like
that. I do think we should specify a floor to set expectations and to let
people understand the job a bit more.

Here is the text of the message I intend to send out to the leaders list.
Based on the discussion during the board meeting, we do not yet have the
level of participation for each committee to be successful. Please take a
look at this draft and suggest any changes. I would like to send out ASAP
to follow the energy of Tom's earlier email regarding the membership drive.

Thank you.

Call for Participation

As you are aware, the OWASP Foundation has recently created several
volunteer committees. These committees will be given the opportunity to
influence the direction of the foundation and the future of OWASP.

Everyone is invited to apply for membership to a particular committee. This
is your opportunity to have a voice in OWASP procedures as well as guide our
future. The OWASP Foundation is a volunteer organization. Our efforts are
directed by industry professionals who are passionate about the future of
application security. Recognizing that each member has a full time job, we
all depend on each other to provide leadership and direction for OWASP.

The Global Committee structure gives each OWASP member the opportunity to
introduce their local successes to a much larger community of professionals.
Volunteers will be able to expand their local network, direct the future of
OWASP, as well as promote our mission: to make application security
<http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_NYC_AppSec_2008_Conference> "visible,"
so that people and organizations can make informed decisions about
application security risks.

The following Global Committees have been created and are recruiting
international members. You can see the list of current members on each
committee page.

The Global Education Committee

The Global Chapter Committee

The Global Conferences Committee

The Global Industry Committee

The Global Projects and Tools Committee

The Global Membership Committee

To apply for committee membership, print out the
<https://www.owasp.org/images/1/10/COMMITTEE_APPLICATION_FORM.doc> Global
Committee Application form and complete your information. You can submit
your application and forward the endorsements via email to the board member
directing each committee. Your completed application will then be reviewed
and voted on by the deadline set in Portugal for ratification of this new
role with OWASP Foundation and they will be voted on at the January OWASP
Board meeting. The term of this role is for 24 months and then each year at
the OWASP Summit these "seats" will be up for renewal.

If you have any additional questions regarding committee membership, please
do not hesitate to contact me <mailto:kate.hartmann at owasp.org>
kate.hartmann at owasp.org, Tom Brennan <mailto:Tomb at owasp.org>
Tomb at owasp.org, or any of the other board members: jeff.williams at owasp.org,
dave.wichers at owasp.org, seba at owasp.org, dinis.cruz at owasp.org .

This is a very exciting opportunity for each member to impact the direction
of the OWASP Foundation. I look forward to working with each of you.
