[Owasp-board] [Owasp-leaders] Time to launch this baby

I’m not sure about this, but I can’t put my finger on exactly why. It seems to me that having such an expensive “membership” looks greedy and counter to our open egalitarian nature. Perhaps we should have some kind of Special Member status for folks that provide higher levels of sponsorship.

We should have a special $20,000 USD membership which could be optionally be used by large corporations and governments.

Unless the government is selling application security tools/services, then they are Large End-User Organization Members – that makes sense to me.

Hi Wayne

You can find all information related to the OWASP membership here: http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Membership

At the moment we have a category for Government organizations but I would say that they would fall into the 'Vendor Organization Members' category.

Jeff any thoughts on that?

Hi Dinis,

I'm certainly willing to be the window for that. Can you point me to materials describing OWASP membership fees, and member benefits? Is there a difference between gov members and companies? Armorize may want to become a member as well.

Best,

Hi Wayne

That is great that OWASP receives that level of recommendation, and it would be good to have the Taiwan government as an OWASP member (and maybe allocating its membership fees to the continuous development of the OWASP Top 10).

Do you know if this is a valid idea, and if so who should be be talking to?

Best regards

Hi Mark,

We've got our media partners in Asia very interested in the release. We've helped them write up their stories already, so as soon as it is officially release they will publish their coverage. But can we know what date to put as the official release date?

We've wrote OWASP into Taiwan's official government recommendation for Web application security, formally passed recently, so the Taiwan IT media is very interested in the new OWASP Top 10 release.

Thanks,

Wayne

Can you send me as copy. I will certainly blog about it and have some journalists I know would write about it. Who deals with press at OWASP these days?

It looks like everything is ready to announce to the world the new OWASP Top 10.

We need to update the links on the main OWASP website, add it as a major feature in the home page and write a press release.

We also should write as many articles about it and get them published on online and off-line media. The launch is a good reason to get those articles published
