David,
Thanks for your notes from yesterday.

EduCom, ChapCom,

The SoC09 is a crucial means to achieve our committee's goals.
Have a look at http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_Season_of_Code_2009 and
investigate projects and potential people working on proposals around
education and membership drive (through the chapters)

thx

Seba

 OWASP confcall

See: http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_Season_of_Code_2009

Dinis proposed major changes to the way the SOC will run this year.

SOC to focus on areas in which OWASP is lacking

1) Need an education pack for OWASP
2) Make OWASP materials more enterprise ready

Key point (Dinis): We don't really need any more tools at this point, we
need "bigger proposals" which address these issues (1&2 above)

Desire is to assign committees to each of these projects, from SOC pov. --
also pushes committee fwd.

Need to give a roadmap for what we can use OWASP for

step 1)
put together a slide deck & preso

then

step 2)
Organize a ten city road show across the US

** Need to go out of our comfort zone -- extend visibility outside of the
people we already have rapport with

** Extend membership

*** Consider doing an OWASP lunch & learn during the road show as a prelude
to the major security conferences

OR

Do webcasts -- recordable, re-usable, etc. etc.

SOC project will cover expenses -- Paulo has serious concerns about the
governance of this process

potential verticals:
healthcare
gov't

DC thought: hardest part of roadshow is not putting the presentations &
brochures etc. together, it's getting the right people to show up at the
shows.

Bottom line: As Industry Comm. we need to help organize/drive the *Marketing
& PR* - (Industry
<http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Global_Industry_Committee>&
Conferences
Committee <http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Global_Conferences_Committee>)
focused SOC project.
