[Global_chapter_committee] Chapter Request in India

Dhruv,

Keep pushing J  I know there are problems with visibility in the region.
This is why I pushed this request to the committee - hoping to give
visibility to the fact that all but one chapter created in the region has
fallen.

We (OWASP) needs to really look at regional opportunities to grow in policy
and in membership.  India is well enough established that I think we can
marry the concept with what's happening in Brazil right now - many active
chapters working together.

Hi Seba,

There are lot of activities happening in India on OWASP front. I highlighted
couple of situations bringing conflict of interest & regulatory issues to
the board before the last summit in the form of a presentation which somehow
have not been taken into account due to which visibility in this region has
been continuously degrading. 

You may see the members in OWASP Delhi mailing list to recognise it as one
of the largest OWASP mailing lists globally and I won't mind owning the
regional mentorship program here. But definitely,  there are concerns those
need quick consideration before they replicate globally. 

For sure, you are most welcome to India and it would be pleasure to be your
host, with few beer drums ready to swim around J

Kate,

I agree, but: 

1) I don't see a lot of activity on the chapters in India

2) This will help us kick-start the mentor program
3) now I can go to India :-)

group?  They are closer geographically and are more aware of any potential
cultural or governmental hurdles.

Hi Kate,

Let's try this out as a pilot for the OWASP Chapter Mentor programm?

I'd like to mentor the new chapter for a year and help Karun find his way in
kickstarting the chapter.

I am pretty sure this will work, as Karun already has some experience with
the Sydney chapter?
