Hi, justed wanted to post some disappointing news.
Because my company is preparing for a work stoppage
by 13K+ CWA workers and several hundred IBEW workers
on 10/6, all travel and vacations, etc. have been canceled
for Oct and Nov because of contingency planning. Therefore,
I will regretfully not be able to join you at AppSec USA in
Austin this Oct 23rd - 26th. Should the union contract be
settled and there is no strike, there is a very slight chance
that I might be able to make it, but that's only if I could get
my company to pick up the tab for travel and/or lodging.
At this point though, the thinking is that some sort of
walkout is likely, in which case I will be expected to work
12 hrs/day and 6 days per week until the strike ends.
So, I am really disheartened that I won't be able to join
most of you at AppSec this year. After last years experience,
I was really looking forward to it. Maybe if someone decides
to hold a ESAPI BoF meeting you can arrange to do it via
Google Hangouts or WebEx or something so that more of
us could participate.

We *cause* accidents." -- Nathaniel Borenstein
