Since several people wanted this info, I'll blast it to the group. Again
I don't think the location of the first meeting has been set, but you
might want to join the mailing list.

Subject: SecurityGeeks announcement

Howdy,
Please pass this along to anyone who is interested.

I'm happy to announce the first of hopefully many SecurityGeeks meetings
in central MD. SecurityGeeks is a free, informal monthly get-together
where we will have at least one invited talk as well as a moderated
discussion of a contemporary security topic. The talks will cover the
bredth of information security including software assurance, network
security, security operations, and user education.

As this is the first meeting, we are still arranging a place... However
we do have a few details available:

What: SecurityGeeks MD
Where: TBD, likely Baltimore or Ellicott City
When: Dec 12 2006, 7p-9p
Who is invited: All
Agenda:
7-7:05 - Intros
7:05 - 7:50 Bruce Potter - The 8 Dirty Little Secrets of IA 7:50 - 8:35
Johnny Long - Subject TBD (Johnny hasn't yet verified he can attend, but
I'm putting lots of pressure on him ;)
8:35 - whenever Open/Moderated Discussion

So that's the details. If you want further updates on where this meeting
will be or future meetings, you MUST subscribe to the SecurityGeeks
mailing
list available at http://lists.shmoo.com/mailman/listinfo/secgeeks I
hope
to have an updated website available at www.securitygeeks.com, but we're
presently migrating some webservers and I don't have anything yet.

Please feel free to forward this announcement to others. The more the
merrier. The securitygeeks meetings that used to be held in VA would
get between 40 and 60 people... I figure we'll have a similar turn out
here.

Thanks all. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly
or ask on the mailing list.

Later
