Happy New Year from the San Diego OWASP Organization!

We hope your holidays were fantastic and you're ready for a great 2011!
The San Diego OWASP Chapter board is excited to announce several
updates. We have been busy working on marketing strategies, speakers for
2011, and building application security awareness throughout San Diego.

2010 was the first year ever to have more web application security
vulnerabilities reported than any other type. It is clear the attacks
have become more focused on application-level vulnerabilities as opposed
to the more traditional lower ISO-layer issues. As organizations
continue to enable customers, partners, vendors, and internal business,
web-enabled services will continue to quickly evolve and potentially
expose data elements which were traditionally much harder to access.

We are currently soliciting call for papers for potential presenters for
2011. We are solidifying a date in June to have Jeremiah Grossman come
down and present- we're certain the crowd should be large and the
content top-notch. We are engaging several other high-profile
personalities in the application security space, however, we are
certainly interested in supporting local talent. If you, or someone you
know, would be interested in speaking please reach out!

We would like to ask that you refer us to your peers, partners, and
associates who you think may benefit from our OWASP meetings. San Diego
has received a lot of attention with regards to cyber security and
military alignment. Help us engage the local community, expand our
chapter, and communicate the importance of web security. We intend to
continue with our “Sushi & Sake Hacking Dojo” theme. A few ways to
expand the group are:

1- Blogging
2- Twitter
3- Peer Networking
4- University billboards and online forums
5- Other local associations who may align with our goals (ISSA, ISACA,
HTCIA, 2600, etc.)
6- Facebook
7- Linked-In

To show our appreciation t-shirts will be given to anyone bringing at
least 2 new guests with them to our event. The individual, and their
guests, will all receive OWASP San Diego T-Shirts.

Finally, we wish you a truly happy and prosperous New Year!
