[Owasp-live-cd-2008-project] News on the next release (bug fix) and some server down time

[OWASP Live CD 2008 Project]

New Release news:

Just a quick note to let the community know that I'm planing on fixing a few
bugs and edge-cases found in the Feb 2011 release of WTE.  I'm targeting
that release for the end of the month (March).

   - Firefox WTE Style - has issues when first launched if Ubuntu's Firefox
   has not be launched previously.  I need to update the script I wrote to
   dynamically add the owasp-wte profile to the Firefox config directory to
   better handle this situation.
   - WebGoat needs a bit more attention to its launching scripts, especially
   when launching on 80 vs 8080
   - Some packages need to have Conflicts:  {something} added to them so
   they don't fight with the Ubuntu repo packages - e.g. nikto from the repos
   vs owasp-wte-nikto.  Installing the repo version then owasp-wte's version
   causes install-time errors.
   - If I get the chance, I'll add a few new packages and update the
   owasp-wte-documents package with new docs.

AppSecLive down time:

Just got the following from my hosting company.  Upshot is that later today,
AppSecLive will be off-line for a couple of hours.

(containing the hosting account: appseclive.org) into the new data center
between 10 PM, March 8th and 5 AM March 9th (MST), during low traffic
periods.  We will work to ensure you experience as little downtime as
possible and, to that end, we will take the opportunity to perform any
needed hardware maintenance or upgrades.  We expect the process to take 1 to
3 hours.
