After much internal debate and consternation, its been decided to port the
existing packages for OWASP WTE (formerly the OWASP Live CD) from .deb
packages to Haiku "bundles".

Ubuntu's current decision to go with Unity over Gnome 3 was the primary
driver for this decision. Additionally, Ubuntu appears to be creating a
Linux variant which is so different from other Linux distributions that the
WTE packages created for Ubuntu are unlikely to work with other
Debian variants.

For those not familiar, Haiku is a free and open source OS compatible with
BeOS. More information is available here:
http://haiku-os.org/

Since Haiku is a BeOS derivative as opposed to a Linux derivative, issues
like how different Ubuntu is getting from other Linux variants will go away.
This is especially true because Haiku is the only BeOS compatible OS of
which I am aware.

Haiku bundles include dependency checks, updates and removal capabilities
similar to those present in .deb packages. Dependencies are handled by
libalpm which is also used by ArchLinux's "pacman" package management system
which should help us avoid dependency hell present in other packaging
systems.

Please be patient with us as we make this second major change in the project
underpinnings.

Finally, for those with the digest feature turned on for this list or with a
large backlog of emails, please note that this email is being authored on
April 1st, 2011.
