[Owasp-leaders] Australian journalist arrested for technology conference report

This is exactly what the OWASP Inquiry <https://owasp.org/index.php?title=Category:OWASP_Inquiry&setlang=en> process is intended to cover. We’ve only used it twice, but we should really invoke it more often. We need to find the balance between a full scale investigation, and something that we (OWASP) simply want to comment on. Hopefully, we can use the inquiry process to allow a few folks to get the facts and make recommendations back to the leaders, rather than having a free-for-all on the mailing list.

I first read this link,
http://www.smh.com.au/technology/security/security-experts-go-to-war-wife-targeted-20110517-1eqsm.html
I don't know the facts of this case, but that did not look very good. so I googled the guy's name and OWASP:
http://www.google.co.uk/search? <http://www.google.co.uk/search?&q=Christian%20Heinrich%20OWASP> &q=Christian%20Heinrich%20OWASP
There is a lot of activity - which leads me to believe that this is a potential 'issue' for OWASP.
I am of course suggesting that we discuss this and come to an agreement about the course of action.
I think we are large enough now, we will need to draft a leadership policy about how to handle such events for the future.
Cheers,

Dennis,
Has OWASP been associated with this event? I did not see it mentioned in this article.

I posted about this earlier and heard back from nobody. I don't know Christopher, and I have nothing against him - however, OWASP is a valuable brand in its own right and I think it would be a very good idea if we start to manage that brand. If people start associated with OWASP going rogue; OWASP needs to respond with a press release managing public image. We are not hackers, and we have never condoned nor supported hacking. It is imperative that we maintain our professional image.
