Well, I got invited to Microsoft's security briefings, and I've
discovered Mark Curphey will be talking there. Well, I'm relatively
young in OWASP, I've been here since 2007. Could someone tell me the
story of Mark and OWASP? This is what I'm reading in the document
provided by Microsoft:
At the beginning of the decade Mark Curphey was the Director of
Software Security at Charles Schwab in San Francisco, responsible for
securing one of the biggest financial Web sites in the world.
Concerned with the fear, uncertainty and doubt being portrayed in the
media, he created a project called the Open Web Application Security
Project, or OWASP, with a goal of raising awareness of key issues and
publishing best practices to help developers build secure Web
applications. OWASP has certainly had a major impact on the industry,
yet we are exiting the decade with the same vulnerabilities, threats,
attacks, patterns, and practices that we started the decade with. It
could be argued that Web application security practices have remained
largely static whilst the technology has exponentially evolved.
Just curious, really.
