I've actually seen this kind of thing before from the SF stats package. Even 
on netWindows, it's happened occasionally. For example, note the anomaly 
at:

http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/index.php?report=months&group_id=20631

July was not a month in which the project made a release, and the downloads 
for that month were actually down a bit. Instead, I recall a similar 
anomolous day in which an impossible number of accesses were made. I'm 
inclined to chalk it up to a bug in SF since their stats gathering has so 
many other issues as well.
