Some serious issues/questions not addressed by your proposal:

	* Are you suggesting this only for the common code?
	* are you prepared to break all of our build scripts?
	* what about languages that didn't descend from Oak?
	* why should a project's docs and code be seperated? Why can't they just be 
grouped by project (as they should be now) with common subdirectory 
structures under all of them (as is the current standard).

Frankly, I'm not sure I see enough value in your proposition over the 
current system to warrant the cost of change, although I'm always happy to 
be convinced otherwise.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'll need a better set of "pros" before I'll 
support this.
