[OWASP-GUIDE] Status of Guide

Hi there,

I've just about completed the draft of the next revision with the
help of Raoul Endres who wrote the Privacy and Crypto chapters, and
Denis Pilipchuk who has contributed the Web Services chapter. I've
also re-included and updated some of the early stuff and re-written
the logging and data validation chapters. They are both shorter and
more useful. Despite that, the Guide is currently at the 73,800 word
mark. I am hopeful that a good bit of editing will bring us closer to
60,000 again by the time we finish, but it's still going to be a
monster.

Adrian Wiesmann has been in contact with No Starch Press, and we're
currently in the process of working with them for a November release
of the Guide. I think that would be considered like Guide 2.1, so if
you have any post-2.0 ideas, let's get them on the table now. If a
chapter does not appear in 2.0 now, it is not going to appear.

We are on track for a BlackHat release, and I'm trying to close off
all chapters this week, so we have essentially three weeks to review
and edit the content. To make this effective, I need to carve the
reviews into two chapter chunks - each reviewer will only be assigned
two chapters. That way you can provide meaningful reviews in the time
we have available.

If you'd like to be a reviewer, now is the time to say so. You must
take on a chapter this week, and return it marked up by Wednesday
next week (July 13) and the last chapter by July 20. I leave for
Blackhat on July 26, so this is down to the wire.

thanks,
Andrew
