[Owasp-chapters] OWASP Chapters

By now you will have seen that I have subscribed you to an
OWASP-Chapters mailing list for local Chapter Presidents. 

 

For each local chapter I will create a mailing list in the format
owasp-nyc, owasp-mumbai and the local President will be responsible for
managing it. People will be able to subscribe/ unsubscribe themselves. 

 

I think before we release this and start to plan meetings we need to;

 

1.	Develop a set of rules / guidelines (such as "You must not
charge any money for meetings") etc
2.	Develop a common chapter page template on the OWASP.org web site
for each local chapter to publish schedules, presentations and for
membership information etc. We are currently integrating the Magnolia
CMS system which will allow you to update the content on your local
Chapter pages directly. A screen shot is attached. 
3.	Sponsorship - I think we need to develop some rules for local
chapter sponsorship. I am sure half of you will have been contacted my
Mark Trinidad at AppSec Inc by now with the standard email, We want to
sponsor you. We have always tried to make sure OWASP is vendor neutral
and sponsorship is a gray area. I think providing refreshments and
meeting locations is fine but we need to define some rules. 

 

So that said does anyone have any time to pull any of this together?

 

PS If anyone knows of anyone who would be interested in sponsoring the
overall Chapters project please let me know. I would like to find a way
to pay for mailing list archival within the portal and some other apps
that would help ensure Chapters run smoother.
