[Owasp-cert] Status of OWASP Certification project?

I'm looking at the archives and am not seeing anything recent.  I've also 
tried emailing one of the owners and have not received a reply.  Is this 
still an active effort?

My employer would like me to become certified and I'd like to see if the 
Beta is still open or what the timeline is to availability.

I'd also be interested in hearing any recommendations for a good training 
provider.  My background is strong in security but spotty on development 
(primarily Pascal in college, self taught on Java, C/C++, Perl, PHP, etc).
