All -

I apologize for the late December news, however time around the holiday
coupled with end of year work efforts proved to be too overwhelming to
effectively kick off a year end OWASP meeting. However, I would like to
take this opportunity to share with you some global OWASP news for those
that are not already familiar with the following:

1) We have a corporate volunteer for an Atlanta based OWASP case study.
The case study will seek to provide comparative metrics around secure
development methodologies as applied to web applications in order to measure
any realizable gains from secure coding time and efforts. More details in
Jan to follow.

2) Just a quick note to let you know the OWASP JBroFuzz project has
been recently assessed against the OWASP Assessment Criteria 2.0 and its
ultimate release (JBroFuzz 1.7) has been considered a Stable one

3) A new project category has emerged related to an OWASP inspired
Computer Based Training. I see a lot of potential leverage for
organizations seeking to obtain a cost effective way of educating their
security professional, web application developers, architects, and more.

In order to evolve beyond this year's efforts, I would like to instantiate a
leadership council where roles and responsibilities are defined to assist
that of the Chapter Lead's job functions. These proposed roles are as
follows:

. Communication Lead (chapter page upkeep, meeting recaps,
announcements, etc)

. Social Lead (special social events for the ATL Chapter)

. Workshop Lead (coordinates workshop events)

. Sponsor Lead

. Meeting Coordinator (arranges for meeting space across Atlanta)

If anyone is interested in helping with the chapter in any of the listed
roles, please email me as soon as convenient. I hope to get together with
interested folk at a local watering hole before the months out.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone.

Best,

Tony UcedaVelez, CISM, CISA, GSEC
