Dear Sandra,
No worries! I have been following the threads in the OWASP Leaders and also
the GEC, and I know that you've been super-busy - with IBWAS and stuff! :)
Yes, I have been a touch with a couple of folks in the region especially
with the IHLs so it would be good to meet up to share some of the ideas and
also concerns of some. I hope I would be able to come for the summit in Feb
2011.
Well, do let me know if you have any thing that you would like to embark or
checkout in this Asia Pacific region.
Till then, all the best!
Cheers!

Hi Cecil,
Let me start by apologising for the delay of this email I have been really
busy with pressing things and didnt manage to do it sooner.
I just wanted to thank you for all the information you shared on your email
and also for the support given to this initiative we will most surely need
all the critical mass willing to be involved if we want to make this project
a true success and a fully operational area within OWASP. I am also working
very closely with Martin and the GEC and your help will be most welcome!
Best regards,
Sandra

Dear Sandra,
I belong to the Global Educational committee based out here in Singapore. I
have been in touch with both the Malaysian and Singaporean OWASP heads as
well as some of the local IHLs (Institutes of Higher Learning). I had spoken
to a couple of universities and polytechnics in Singapore and a number of
them are quite keen to embark on a curricula targeted in securing and
defending of web application security space.
I am glad that OWASP had taken this route to have something modeled along
these lines, and I think the time is about ripe for us to be able to reach
out to the masses (or schools) in this sense. It is good that you ar heading
this space, and I think it really takes quite a bit of effort from you to
get this going :)
Like what you mentioned, we have the intention, but unfortunately what we
lack at the moment is a proper or a structured curricula we can bring to the
IHLs immediately. There are lots of fragmented knowledge here and there
given by scores of OWASP folks around the world and region and it would be
great once we can come up with a working and usable OWASP curricula.
I know that some IHLs have been using some of the approaches and methods to
come up with some form of in-house curriculum but I am not sure how
successful has it been; I think it is also important at the same time to
have properly trained instructors that can deliver and bring alive the
sessions to the students.
I am writing to just let you know I fully support what you are doing and if
there is anything that you may think I could help or assist in any way, just
let me know. I would be glad to try something out here in Singapore or
Malaysia.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
/cecil
