[Global_membership_committee] University Supporter Targets

I am traveling Friday returning to the US after a off-the-grid vacation on
Feb 2nd so I will not be able to join the next one.

So please proceed, where we left off was

1. Membership Page - http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Membership - Approved
by Board

2. Membership Announcement - OWASP-Leaders - Completed (you did see it
right?)

3. 60/40 Membership Drive Announcement - OWASP-Leaders - Completed part #2
of Item #2

4. Feb 2nd 2008 - We need a email from OWASP Foundation to OWASP-ALL to
educate everyone on the new membership model. This email should be sent from
Kate Hartman and could utilize some of the language in the prior
announcement to leaders however it should NOT contain any reference to the
60/40 split as this is limited to the OWASP-Leaders communication list.

5. Feb 2nd - 6th - Kate's phone will most likely be ringing and her email
box full of questions and hopefully lots of new applicants.

6. Communication from Kate to the Conferences Committee about the membership
to enable sponsor discounts at future events (a carrot for membership)

Anything I missed on next steps guys?

FYI - The following universities would already qualify for the University
Supporter as they TODAY work with NY/NJ OWASP so we just need to grab a logo
and add it

*	Polytechnic University: Nasir Memon <mailto:memon(at)poly.edu>
732-241-6128

*	New Jersey Institute of Technology: Osama <mailto:oe2(at)njit.edu>
Eljabiri 973-981-1049

*	Pace University: Chienting Lin, Ph.D <mailto:clin(at)pace.edu>

Agreed, we should meet shortly. Is this Friday possible? I'll be in the UK
again next week. If we want to meet next Monday I can join a skype call
between the hours of 12:30-2:30 CST.

Regarding the accredited University item, if I recall our intention was to
exclude training organizations. So the spirit of that rule is to allow
community colleges too. Perhaps we need to consider different wording or
additional links. I did a quick search and found this organization which
accredits schools in a region. This included many community colleges.

Maybe we need to find a different list or add qualifiers to the restriction.

All:

Now that the new membership model has been run through the Board, I have
been talking to a bunch of potential University Supporters. We are getting
close with:

-Uiversity of Texas - Dallas
-University of Dallas (Business School which run the Information Assurance
group)
-Trinity University
-University of Texas - San Antonio (Institute for Cyber Security)

Also Denim Group will be signed up as an Organizational Supporter as soon as
I shake down our accounting guy for a purchase order. I will say he has
become skillful in dodging me during the past week...

One interesting thing - we have attracted some interest from one of the
community colleges here in Texas but they are disqualified from the
University Supporter position because they aren't an accredited University.
[I got to wondering what kind of moron suggested that these educational
supporters had to be accredited universities until I realized that may well
have been me...] I'm curious - if community colleges are interested in
becoming supporters is that of interest?

We should probably link up for a call next week if folks are available.
Does 9:30 CST Monday work for everyone again? My schedule next week is
still pretty open so let me know.

Thanks,

Dan
