[GPC] Code Crawler main page reference on OWASP?

Dave,

I will do as you say and come back to you with a couple of operational
comments regarding the OWASP Top 10. Right now I am working to finish up the
OWASP Crawler. Nevertheless, I am counting on returning to your project
today.

Paulo,

I didn’t realize you were starting to create these yourself. I created one
for the Top 10 already, on a slightly different page:

OWASP_Top10 and updated the main project page.  You have started one at
OWASP_Top_Ten_Project, but that is now obsolete.

If you want to delete OWASP_Top_Ten_Project, and then move my page
OWASP_Top10 to that page, and then fix everything that’s relevant, that
would be great.

Could you then move the Top 10 up to the Connected data block?

Also – provided a nit comment to Dinis but I don’t know if you can fix it.
The template calculates: Project Health: TDB, when it should be Project
Health: TBD. Is that something you can fix?

The Code Crawler project details page

already been created and placed here
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_Projects_Dashboard (as has been said in
my last email about honorary memberships).

Also a few fields had been filled in. If you both agree I can finish this
work.

There is a new ‘standard’ project page that we have just created. If you go
to: http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_Projects_Dashboard_v2

And then click on the JBroFuzz main project page you’ll see that it now has
a project details tab:
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_JBroFuzz#tab=Project_Details

It would be great if you could create this for your project as it provides a
more user friendly standard way of finding the project information. You
would create a page like this:
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/GPC_Project_Details/OWASP_JBroFuzz

So, yours would be
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/GPC_Project_Details/OWASP_Code_Crawler

And then once that page exists, you simply add:

==== Main ====

at the Top, and

==== Project Details ====

{{:GPC_Project_Details/OWASP_Code_Crawler | OWASP Project Identification
Tab}}

At the bottom of your project’s main page.

This should only take you like 10 minutes or so, but then it will be easier
for people to navigate your project. In fact, you might want to make the
Project Details tab the first tab in your list, and change Main to Season of
Code Status or something as the 2nd tab.

Thanks for your email.

Indeed there is still lots to do on OWASP CodeCrawler especially in terms of
documentation and text. This is an area that I’m looking forward to improve
as soon as we release the new version of CC. I can also ensure you this will
be done within the OWAPS Wiki Page.

Please correct me if I am wrong but, for what I can see,  the offsite links
are already shown into the “Main Links” area of the project page.

Alessio,

I noticed that you are working on a new update to Code Crawler. Thanks for
your efforts in working on this tool.

I noticed that the main page at OWASP about Code Crawler doesn’t even have a
link to the offsite location of the project, which is:
http://codecrawler.codeplex.com/. Can you update this page:
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Code_Crawler to have at least
a link to the code crawler offsite page?

Is there a way to host most of the text/documentation about Code Crawler on
OWASP and just use the codeplex site for managing the code, bug tracking,
etc.?  Can you look a the
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_Enterprise_Security_API#tab=Ja
va_EE page as an example of using both the OWASP wiki and an external site
(in ESAPI’s case, its Google) on a single project.

We’d prefer that everything be on the OWASP wiki about OWASP projects but
understand that this isn’t very feasible for tool/code based projects, but
we’d like to keep as much as we can on the OWASP wiki if possible.

What are your thoughts on what can be done in this regard?
